By Grace, Not Works

By grace, not by works you have been saved,

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, warm wishes and greetings in His matchless name!

In this showbiz world, every small act of help, gratitude or good work is portrayed big. Sometimes blown out of proportions for personal gains or glorification. There are many in this world who does all the good works. But their main agenda or plans might not good in the sight of God. Our every act of goodness might be genuine, but the real intentions behind the work matters. Are you doing these works for the glory of God or for personal gains? Are you showing off yourself as a person of great heart or a philanthropist? Beloved, these acts of kindness, righteous living and charity are good, but they alone would not save and fetch you the kingdom of God.

The word of God, clearly says that we are saved by His grace and mercy, through faith in Jesus Christ. Moreover, the faith is not by our own strength or ability, but it is the free gift of God. Therefore, there is nothing in which any person can boast off as his own to receive salvation. As the below verse says, He washed and renewed us by the Holy Spirit.

he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

Titus 3:5 NIV

We are created in Christ to do good works

So, does it mean we are not to do any good works? No, we should never stop doing what is good in the sight of God. We are the creation of the Living God. Who made us in His image and prepared in advance to do all good works. Yes, we are made to do good works for the glory of the Living God. Truly, the omnipotent God is glorified when we do good things in the name of our Lord Jesus.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10 NIV

Therefore beloved, let us walk in the will of the Heavenly Father, by the power of our Lord Jesus in us. Let us glorify the Living God by doing all things that are good in His sight. Moreover, let our lives be surrendered to Jesus our Lord so that we are at His grace and mercy. For our salvation is in the mighty and matchless name of Lord jesus Christ alone. Amen.
