Seek Those Things

Seek those things which are above.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.

All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’s precious name !

The subject verse from the third chapter of the Epistle to Colossians brings before us an important aspect of Christian living. Very importantly the verse takes for granted our being risen with Christ. Isn’t it a great thing to know that we have risen with Christ? We have this understanding taking cue from what has been said in the following verse.

‘For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.’

Colossians 2:12 NLT

Set our sight on things unseen

As per the above scripture, we also died and were buried with Christ through our baptism. Emphatically we were raised to a new life by the mighty power of the Almighty God, who raised Jesus Christ from dead. Moreover, every true Christian’s priorities change with the said work of God. The strength to overcome the worldly lusts and temptations shall be our longing. Truly, we shall have this confidence with the dwelling of Lord the Holy Spirit in us. Considering all the above, we are now to long for those things which are from the Heavenly realms where Jesus Christ sits.

‘So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.’

2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT

Therefore, earnestly seek those eternal things which are from the Heavenly realms of the Living God. As the above verse says, let us fix our sight on those things that cannot be seen but eternal. With our lives centered on Christ and according to the will of the Heavenly Father we shall have what is promised.

In Jesus’ matchless and mighty name. Amen.
