Do not love the world or anything in the world.
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

The above subject verse (1 John 2:15) talks about the love that is most common in this materialistic world. The love referred here is of the world and all things that exists in it. The Bible is clear and says, “do not love the world“. Even for the children of God, the message is plain. For it is futile and worthless to desire for those things which are temporary. As Peter rightly says, we need to be holy in all things that we do. And we are foreigners and exiles sojourning this world. Moreover we need to abstain from all sinful desires which wage war against our soul.
Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.

If we have deep affection for the worldly things then surely, the love for the Heavenly Father is non-existent. For the Bible says that nobody can serve two masters. Surely, we will love one and hate the other. Therefore, no one can say that He loves God and also his family, possessions or any other things.
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 6:24 NIV
The chosen ones of God shall not belong to this world. As the Bible says, those who are truly the children of God shall be hated by the world. Surely, the children of God will always keep the Lord as their top-priority. Even their spouse, children, loved ones, wealth or possessions are only next to God.
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
John 15:19 NIV
Therefore brethren, let us not fall for the world. But love the Lord our God the most and seek to do His will. As the Bible says, the world with all its lusts will pass away, but those who does the will of the Heavenly Father shall live to the eternity through Jesus Christ. Amen.
