Temple of the Living God

You are the temple of the living God.

And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.”

2 Corinthians 6:16 NKJV

All the might, power and majesty be to the God Almighty for ever and ever.

The subject verse from the Paul’s second epistle to the people of Corinth brings before us the truth and promise of God. Yes, the truth is that we are the temple of the Living God and the promise was given to us from the following verse from the book of Ezekiel.

My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Ezekiel 37:27 NIV

As the temples of the Living God, we are dedicated to His service. We have a special relationship which is above all the relationships that we have. No relationship is greater than what we have with the Loving God. As He is the Most High God, even our relationship with Him shall be the most high. As promised, God’s presence is in us who have opened our hearts for Him. Those who are yet to receive the Lord, are to understand the fact that He is at the doors of your heart. Waiting for you to open the doors of your heart and let Him in.

God alone in our hearts

When the God reigns in our heart, we shall walk in His righteousness and holiness. For the righteousness and holiness shall further strengthen us to walk in the will of the Almighty God. Destruction stands at our doors If we give way to the idols instead of the Sovereign God. The idols can be many things. It maybe your cell phone, your car, your girl friend, your children or even be the sport which you like most. The list is not limited to what is stated before. But it could be anything which has a place more than God in our lives.

So, what is it ? What is it that rules your hearts? Is it God or anything else? Anything other than God is an idol in our life. For an idol is something which robs the glory and honor of the Living God. As the Bible says, our God is a Jealous God. And He shall not share his glory with anything else.

Therefore, as the sons and daughters of the Living God, let our bodies be His holy temple. Let He alone reign our heart, soul and spirit. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
