I will be a Father
I will be a Father to you.
… “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

The subject verse (2 corinthians 6:18) affirms the love of our Living God towards the mankind. Yes, the Almighty Lord loves us so much that He longs to be our Father. But there is something which is hindering our relationship with the Lord. Although the Almighty is eager to have us as His sons and daughters, we by our sinful ways are estranged. From the context of the subject verse, it is clear that idolatry is the dark spot in our lives. We being in darkness, how can we have a fellowship with the Lord, who is the light? Therefore, let us get separated from the darkness of idolatry.
Beloved, the modern idolatry is unlike the worshipping of idols. Everything that we love more than the Lord, our God is an idol in our lives. It could be your smartphone, your car, any of your material possessions and even your loved ones. Evenmore, there are so many things which are considered idolatry as the following verse describes.
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
Colossians 3:5 NIV
Therefore, let us Introspect ourselves. As the Lord asks, let us come out from the quicksand of idolatry. Let us put to death all things which are idolatry. What is that thing, that we have made for ourselves as an idol? What is stopping you to come out? Are you unable to get rid of those? Are you not able to love God more than your loved ones? Take heart, turn fully to the Lord and seek His divine intervention in your life. Repent and fully submit to the Lord. For the Lord is ready to forgive you and make you as His son or daughter.
