If Any of You Lacks Wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

All the glory, praises and honor be to the Heavenly Father in Jesus’ precious name !

The subject verse from the Epistle of James imparts upon us the real source of wisdom. For man believes that it is the world that gives us wisdom. Though it is partly true that we derive wisdom from this world, but the wisdom referred here is from above. The author believes that worldly wisdom could never match the wisdom that comes from the Almighty God. And the following below verse makes it plain what the author believes about heavenly wisdom. For it is to our good to have which is from God.

But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.

James 3:17 NLT

You don’t have because you don’t ask God

As can be seen, it is very important for us to ask God for wisdom. I believe we should humbly and earnestly seek this heavenly wisdom. Though the author calls upon those who lack, it is for our good to ask God to bless what we lack. For we can never be sure of what we possess and what we lack. Therefore, we should always seek the Almighty with humility and great reverence. As the following verse says, we don’t have what we want because we don’t ask God for it.

You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.

James 4:2 NLT

God gives generously to all

From the above, it is clear why we don’t have. However, the truth is revealed to us through the subject verse. The scripture makes it plain the love of God for us. He is impartial and generous to all the people. Whosoever asks Him, to them shall He give bountifully without finding any fault. Yes, He shall not question you or condemn you for asking wisdom. But shall give you freeheartedly.

Therefore brethren, approach the Almighty God with humility and seek wisdom in Jesus precious and matchless name. Amen.
