Evening and Morning

Evening and morning and at noon I will pray.

All the might and majesty belong to the Omnipotent God !

The subject verse from the book of Psalms brings before us an important aspect of getting nearer to the Almighty God. For many praying to God is as an uphill task. Only when we set out to pray, all the left-over works and other personal works crave for our attention. Even for some it is altogether a long-distance journey and so shall they be busy preparing the whole day for few minutes of prayer. But we have to understand that praying is nothing but talking to God. And that too at the comfort of our own language. For He shall hear us all irrespective of our language, ethnicity or race.

Praying thrice in the day

The psalmist in the subject verse talks about praying in the evening, morning and at noon. We know that it is the custom of the Hebrews, who start their day in the evening. And so it is clear why the author king David started with evening in the first place. The Holy Scriptures according to Daniel 6:10 says that Daniel used to pray three times a day giving thanks to the Almighty God. And so we see praying thrice as the custom of the pious Hebrews. But spending time with God in prayers and in quiet times is not limited to any numbers. We can approach God as many times as we could in a day.

Call on the name

As true Christians, we shall call on the name of the Lord our Redeemer, For He longs for us more than us. And He is ready to listen to and answer our prayers. But the effort that we put up seems to be the fragile link. To overcome this weak link, the Almighty God has given us His Holy Spirit. When we seek the assistance of Lord the Holy Spirit, we shall pray without any hindrance and according to the will of the Heavenly Father. Therefore, pray in the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
