” Run from sexual sin “

Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.

Praise be to the God Most High !

The above verse from Paul’s first epistle to the Corinthians deals with a very sensitive subject with respect to our spiritual life. The verse starts with a command — run from sexual sin. The instructions are very clear. We have only one thing to do when we get into a sexual encounter. We shall run as fast as we can to save our life. This is not only to give ourselves to the holiness and righteousness but also for the eternal life that is thereafter.

Temple of the Holy Spirit

As the subject verse says, no other sin affects our body as this does. For, all other sins are committed outside of our body. But sexual immorality is a sin that is committed directly against our own body. Thereby we defile our own body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Moreover, we do not belong to ourselves, but we are the grand purchase of the Almighty God. Furthermore, we are to honor God the most high with our bodies. As stated in the following verses which comes right after the subject verse.

‘Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.’

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Very importantly we belong to the body of Christ which is for the Lord. The body of Christ shall be holy and righteous without any uncleanness. Therefore, if we are to be part of this body of Christ we shall not give ourselves to fornication or any sexual immorality. For that matter, even to any other sins.

Therefore brethren, let us heed to the voice of the Holy Spirit who does warns us in those situations and come out by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
