This is what the Lord Almighty said: Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Zechariah 7:9 NIV

Beloved brothers and sisters, a warm welcome and cheerful greetings to you in the mighty and matchless name of Lord Jesus Christ!

Through the above verse i.e., Zechariah 7:9, the Lord Almighty speaks to us today. Although the context of the verse is about God talking to the people of Israel, it is for our goodness that we apply it in our lives. God’s words are for our wisdom and understanding. Therefore, let us observe carefully what the almighty Lord said. As the Scripture says in Deuteronomy 4:6 (NIV):

Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”

For administering true justice, you need not be a Judge or be in the courts of Law. But this is for everybody in their own capacity and opportunity. Certainly, this is applicable for one and all. Whenever or wherever we get an opportunity to do justice, let us glorify God by pronouncing righteous judgement acceptable to Him. Also let us be merciful and show compassion to one another. As we seek God to be merciful and compassionate with us, let us also be to others in the same likeness of the Almighty. As the Scripture says according to the verses Philippians 2:4-5 (NIV):

Not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.

Most importantly, as the above verses make it clear, let us be in the likeness of our Lord Jesus and glorify our Saviour. Finally as the subject verse calls for, let us administer true justice; show mercy and compassion and above all the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
