May Your God Deliver You

May your God deliver you !

Then the king commanded, and Daniel was brought and cast into the den of lions. The king declared to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!”

All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name !

The subject verse from the Book of Daniel brings before us the words of king Darius to Daniel after casting him into a den of lions. That was the punishment that was meted out to Daniel for not following the king’s decree. Looking at the verses just ahead of the subject verse, we could see how Daniel’s accusers plotted against him. And we see that the king’s heart was greatly troubled and that he labored till the evening to get Daniel delivered. But the king owing to the law of the Medes and the Persians, could not revoke the decree that he established. Therefore, he ordered Daniel to be cast into the den of lions.

The Lord delivers

Interestingly the king seems to be confident of the God of Daniel more than his gods. Perhaps he might have known about God’s miraculous deliverance of Daniel’s three friends from the fiery furnace. Indeed that might be the confidence of the king for expressing the subject words of deliverance. Whether the king fully believed the God of Daniel is not known. However, he placed his confidence that Daniel will be delivered. But for Daniel, the Almighty God is His refuge. As the righteous child of God, Daniel believed that the Almighty God is able to deliver him. As the following verses say, the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord and He surely helps and delivers them.

‘ The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord ; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.’

Psalm 37:39-40 ESV

Considering how the Almighty God shut the mouths of those hungry lions and delivered Daniel is a great astonishment for the king and as well as his accusers. Even more, it is the same for all of us. How could we not give glory to the Almighty God for His wondrous deeds in our lives? I believe the same God who protected Daniel is also protecting us. Whether we acknowledge or not, God is continually shielding us from the evil and wicked forces. Gratitude and thanksgiving shall always be on our lips for the glory of the Living God.

The shed blood of Christ

By the shed blood of Jesus Christ, we are protected and delivered from a multitude of attacks by the adversary. Therefore brethren, let us give all the glory and praises to the Omnipotent God who gave His Son for us. Let us take refuge in the Almighty by fully surrendering to Jesus Christ who is our Savior and Lord.

Stay blessed and protected in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
