Walk in the Spirit

… let us also walk in the Spirit.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name !

The subject verse and the whole context (Gal 5:16-26), brings before us an important aspect of the Christian life. And that is to walk in the Holy Spirit of God. Just claiming to be the children of God does not make us who we are in Christ. As the author Apostle Paul says, there is more to being filled with the Holy Spirit than just declaring to others. Very importantly, our walk should match our proclamation. Our control over the lusts of flesh needs constant efforts to crucify them. As the author says in the following verse, let us walk in the Spirit so that we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

‘I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. ‘

Galatians 5:16 NKJV

In the way of Christ

Most importantly, our life in Christ tells us what our walk is. The Holy Spirit whom the Almighty bestowed upon us, leads us in the way of Christ. We shall bear fruits that glorify God and also make us worthy to be called the sons of God. The Scriptures say that the Almighty God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts for He considered us to be His sons (Gal 4:6). And those who live according to the Spirit shall set their minds on the things of the Spirit. Truly, our longing shall be for the things that strengthen our spiritual lives and our walk in the righteousness of God. Moreover, Jesus’ sacrifice fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law for us who walk according to the Spirit.

‘He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.’

Romans 8:4 NLT

Therefore brethren, let us live and walk in the Spirit of Christ for the glory of the Living God. Furthermore, let our lives lead others to Christ rather than the other way round.

In Jesus matchless name. Amen.
