Revealed them to Little Children
Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, that you have … revealed them to little children.
At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children;
All the glory, praises and honor be to the Heavenly Father in Jesus’ precious name!
The subject verse from the Gospel according to Matthew brings before us our Lord Jesus’ words regarding the good news of salvation – the gospel. The Scribes and Pharisees were thick in their prideful attitude and did not take Jesus as their Messiah, nor they gave ear to the gospel. Moreover, they were boastful of their knowledge and their keeping of religious ordeals. The Bible clearly says that the Almighty God hates the proud and lofty. As the scriptures says, they will have a day, when they shall be brought low.
For the Lord of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low;
Isaiah 2:12 ESV
Blinded by the worldly knowledge
The only Begotten Son of God, Lord Jesus thanks the Heavenly Father in the subject verse. He gives thanks for hiding what is most obvious to man’s salvation. The proud and lofty men who boasted of their knowledge of scriptures, could not understand the good news of salvation. But the unlearned and lowly, who were like little children in knowledge to the wise and the understanding, received the gospel wholeheartedly. There is no doubt that we see the same happening to the wise and prideful people of the modern times. They are so puffed up with the worldly knowledge that they are blind to the good news of salvation. While those who are meek continue to receive the knowledge of the Almighty God’s grace and mercy. And they are perfected in the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Moreover, about the citizenship of the holy kingdom that is to come.
Therefore, let us be humble but obedient to the Lord our God. Let us eagerly seek the knowledge of our Lord and God and be saved by walking in God’s will. In Jesus’ precious name be saved. Amen.
