All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name !

The subject verse brings before us the emphatical statement made by Apostle Paul in respect of the Old Laws and being justified by faith in Christ. Here, the statement made by Paul is not his categorical denial of the laws of Old Testament (OT). He understood the fact that the law only shows our sins and do not save us from them. Because of the weakness of our sinful nature, God did what the law could not do. He sent His begotten Son into this world to save us. Moreover, the law is the tutor to bring people to the Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:24) whom God has given the authority to judge. Very importantly, all the prophets of the OT times witnessed that whoever believes in Christ will receive remission of sins (Acts 10:43).

The Bible says that by faith in Jesus Christ we cease to become slaves to the law (Galatians 4:4). As the following scripture says, to everyone who believes, He is the end of the law.

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Romans 10:4 NKJV

Dead to sin, but alive in Christ

Considering all the above, we could understand why Paul made the statement as in the subject verse. He is dead to the law so as to be unified with Christ and live under His grace. For through Christ, the law of the Spirit has set us free from the law of sin and death. Jesus condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us.

‘because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. ‘

Romans 8:2-4 NIV

Therefore brethren, let us hang on to our life with Christ and for Christ. So that with all firmness consider ourselves to be dead to sin. But alive to the Almighty God in Jesus Christ. Amen.
