You are our Potter

You are our Potter and we are the miry clay.

But now, O Lord , You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.

Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ, warm wishes and greetings!

The author of the above verse (Isaiah 64:8) presents here the truth of creation, although many quote it as an analogy. Even if we take it as an analogy, it is so beautiful considering our relationship with God. Certainly we are nothing but the miry clay.

God made the first man from the mud and breathed life in to him. Therefore, you, me and the whole mankind is from mud. And the omnipotent God is our Potter, who shaped the man in His own image. As the following verse says, God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils.

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Genesis 2:7 NIV

In the first place, we all are the work of His mighty hands. We are shaped according to His image. Over all His creation, man occupies a special place. He blessed man to be fruitful and gave power over all the living creatures that move over the land, in the seas and over those that fly in the air.

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Genesis 1:28

We are made for His glory

Beloved, the most important thing to realize here is that we all are made for the glory of God. Yes, it is true, it is all about God. We are all created, formed and made for His glory’s sake as the following verses from Isaiah 43 shows.

6. … Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—

7. everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

Isaiah 43:6-7

Even the whole of the creation is for His glory’s sake. The whole of the mankind, when compared with the whole of His creation is next to nothing. Though, we are so tiny or miniscule, He knows and cares for each one of us. His love for the mankind sans bounds. Therefore beloved, let us all come to our senses and glorify God for who He is. Let all the praises and honour be to Him alone. Submit and surrender to the living God and live in His will in the name of Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
