A Child is Born

For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6 NIV.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, hearty welcome and warm wishes to you!

Our Heavenly Father blessed all the humanity with the most precious gift. The gift is none other than our Lord, Jesus Christ the Messiah. First of all, Jesus Christ our Lord came down to this earth to live in our midst. The subject verse from the Holy Scriptures gives us a glimpse of the Messiah’s birth and His nature. He is the prophesied Child born for the whole humanity. He is the same Child who was referred in the Book of Isaiah in verse 7:14. As per the Scriptures, a virgin gave birth to the Child and was called Immanuel, meaning “God with us“. Also, the Child was the Son (of God) who was given as a Sacrificial Lamb for our atonement and reconciliation with God.

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Isaiah 7:14

As the verse says, truly our Lord Jesus shoulders the government. Unlike the earthly governments, His government or the kingdom is not of this world. Moreover, Jesus clearly said about His Kingdom that it is from another place (John 18:36).

Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”

John 18:36 NIV

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace

Furthermore, the subject verse clearly describes the character of our Lord Jesus in many names. Most importantly, He perfectly fit all the names and titles He was given in the Scriptures. Hence, He was aptly called as the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Our Lord Jesus did the will of the Heavenly Father and fully submitted even to the death on the Calvary Cross. But by His death, He conquered the death for all of us and became the true way and life for whole humanity. Therefore brethren, let us fully submit to the living God in Lord Jesus’ matchless name. Amen.
