Faith and Deeds

Faith without deeds is dead.

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, warm wishes and greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus!

The subject verse (James 2:26) is something we all have to look at and ponder over it. Are we claiming to be faithful without any works? Does our faithfulness count in the sight of God? The subject verse and the verses ahead clearly tells what the actual faith is all about. The second chapter of James from verse 14 to 26 is all about faith and deeds.

The scriptures are plain in revealing to us that faith without works is dead. Also, parallels are drawn between faith and body and likewise between works and spirit. Anyone who is vocal about his faith (without works) shall learn the truth. The truth that those with dead faith benefits nothing. Very importantly, that kind of faith cannot save anybody. Therefore, it is very essential to know and act upon our faith. By all means our faith should be backed with righteous deeds

Faith accompanied by works

The Bible says that faith by itself and not accompanied by works is dead. Even the demons believe and tremble at God. Therefore dead faith is useless. We will be considered righteous like Abraham when we too obediently act upon His instructions in reverent faith. The following below verses show how God credited righteousness to Abraham.

Abram believed the Lord , and he credited it to him as righteousness.

Genesis 15:6 NIV

‘And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. ‘

James 2:23

Therefore brethren, our actions in faith speaks our character. Moreover, we should always walk the talk for the glory of God. In the first place, we by our own efforts cannot stand long. But by fully submitting to our Lord Jesus Christ in faith, will have the power to march ahead working for His glory. Amen.
