Light shines in darkness

The darkness has not overcome the Light.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Dear brothers and sisters! Loving greetings in the mighty and matchless name of Lord Jesus Christ.

Most of the dictionaries describe the darkness as little light or no light. But as per the Bible, the darkness connotates everything that is evil and wicked (Pro 2:13-14), most appropriately that which is against God. Darkness is not something that can be ushered out of the door. Especially, we by our own strength cannot do that. When the light appears, the darkness has no place. And so is our Lord Jesus who is the light. As quoted in John 1:9, “The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world“. Here the author speaks about Jesus who is the light of the world. Jesus came down into this world to lead us to the light from the darkness in which we are living. As Jesus himself told, “Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light (John 12:36)”. Therefore, by believing in Lord Jesus, we become the children of light. Great, then let us believe and love the Lord from the core of our heart.

It is easy for the darkness to engulf us when we overlook those sins which we may count as little or small ones. Beware brothers and sisters, no matter whether it is little or big, sin is sin. As the Bible says, “But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them (1 John 2:11 NIV)”. It does not mean only hating a brother or sister will put us in darkness, but all things that may appear similar in nature.

Stay in the light.

Finally, as said in 1 Thessalonians 5:5-6, we are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.

In Jesus precious name, may we all be in the light to the eternity. Amen.
