Do not seek what you should eat

“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.

Luke 12:29‭-‬31 NKJV

All the glory, praises and honor be to the Almighty God in Jesus Christ’s precious and matchless name !

The subject verses from the Gospel according to Luke brings before us the life priorities. Though the priorities seem trivial to some, but they are very much important for a real christian life. For the world is constantly worried about what to eat or what to drink. For some it is what to wear and how to look. while for some it is the wealth or riches. All these are only a few out of the never ending list of worldly lusts.

The verses says, do not seek or be anxious of these worldly things. For there are more greater and important things that are worthy to be sought by one and all. The perishable and ephemeral things of the world are worth nothing for our spiritual empowerment. Yes, rather than feeding our physical body, we should feed our spiritual needs. The hunger for Christ and the thirst for His kingdom shall be our top priority. And as the verses says, let us first seek the kingdom of God rather than the worldly things.

God knows our needs

The Omnipotent God knows everything about us. In fact, He knows more about us rather than what we know about ourselves. For He created us and knows every intricate detail of us. And as the verse says, every nation of the world seeks to satisfy their bodily needs. Moreover, God knows all our needs. But He wants us to hunger for those things that never perish. As the following verse says, first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness and the Almighty shall take care of all our needs.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 6:33 NKJV

Finally brethren, if we are not seeking God’s kingdom and His righteousness, then we are to set our priorities right. We shall turn away from the worldly things and long for the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Therefore, let us seek the Holy Father, His kingdom and His righteousness in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
