His Anger Lasts Only a Moment

His anger lasts only a moment.

Sing to the Lord , all you godly ones! Praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Psalms 30:4‭-‬5 NLT

All the praises, honor and glory be to the Heavenly Father in Jesus Christ’s precious name !

The psalmist expresses the attribute of God in his own way. Based on his experiences, king David testifies that his sorrows and troubles last only a moment. But the favor of God is for lifetime. Somehow, we always associate all kinds of troubles, sorrows and sicknesses to God’s anger. Isn’t it brethren? Though it may not be correct to put it that way. Certainly, it could be the consequences of our own bad behavior or wrong actions or hasty decisions or a mix of all things bad.

Most importantly, the Bible says that the Almighty God is slow to anger but abounding in love. From that we could understand the fact that God tolerates all our wrong doings. I am not saying that we too could live a worldly life full of sins, abominations, transgressions and/or iniquities. But emphasizing the fact that God gives us ample time to mend our ways and return to him. As a father who patiently waits for his son’s return; the Almighty longs for our return. Moreover, it is His love, compassion, grace and mercy that keeps us going in this world.

But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

Psalms 86:15 NIV

His favor lasts lifetime

Indeed, it is very true that the Almighty’s favor lasts lifetime. The troubles and sorrows stands nowhere if we compare them to all His blessings or the peace, joy and happiness that is ever flowing in our lives. Surely, as the psalmist says, weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. Yes, His rich mercies are afresh every morning.

Therefore brethren, our compassionate and gracious God is faithful to all his children. In the first place, we are to understand the fact that we are the only reason for all our troubles and sorrows. And we are to mend our ways, repent and seek His divine forgiveness in Jesus’ mighty and matchless name. Amen.
