Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves …

Praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious and matchless name !

The subject verse from the Gospel according to Mark is paramount for every wanna be disciple of Christ. These words are in fact the very words of our Lord Jesus Christ. These are meant for all who wants to be His disciples. As the verse says, the very first thing that needs to be done is to deny ourselves. Yes, every thing that is evil and wicked in the sight of God shall not be entertained in our minds or in our thoughts. Moreover, our actions shall be geared towards the denial of entry of every thought propagated by the Satan.

Take up the cross daily

As the second part of the verse says, we are to take up our cross. In fact, the following verse from the Gospel according to Luke asks us to carry our cross daily. Yes, we are to deny every temptation or evil thought and put it to death on our inner cross. Secondly, we shall not let the sinful thoughts to pass on to our heart, but deny them. Truly, denying the entry of every evil and wicked thoughts constitutes taking up of our cross.

Finally, it is following our Lord Jesus in every aspect of life. We shall seek to do the will of the Heavenly Father and glorify Him in all the works that we do. As the Bible says, let the grace of our Lord Jesus, love of the Holy Father and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit enable us to be the disciple of Christ. Amen.
