Believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God
But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, greetings in the mighty and matchless name of Lord Jesus Christ!
Our belief in Lord Jesus as the prophesied Messiah, the Son of God is a wonderful blessing for all of us. The subject verse John 20:31 clearly says that by believing in Him we may have life in His name. More importantly in the same chapter Jesus blessed all those who believed in Him, even ever seeing Him.
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” ‘John 20:29
Scriptures point to Jesus as the Messiah
Even before Jesus came to this world, all the Scriptures pointed to Him. Both the Old and New Testaments unify to give us single message of Jesus, the Messiah. The Scriptures were written by many authors and even hundreds of years before His coming. All the prophecies of the Messiah were fulfilled by our Lord Jesus Christ. But the said part, there are still people, especially Jews, who never knew or acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah.
Fulfillment of Scriptures
But why is Jesus not acknowledged as the Messiah? The most concrete reason is that they had a different view of Messiah, Especially, the Jews expected a King or a Ruler who would deliver them from the Roman occupation. Contrary to what they thought and expected of a Messiah, Jesus was a son of a carpenter. As the Scriptures said Jesus was born at Bethlehem to a virgin mother (Isaiah 7:14) and He belonged to the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10) and from the descendants of King David (Isaiah 11:1). Most importantly, He suffered and went through the torture and pain for the sins and transgressions of the mankind (Isaiah 53:5,7).
5. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
7.He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.Isaiah 53:5,7
Jesus after He was risen, met two people on the road to Emmaus who were discussing about Him and His crucifixion, Certainly, they were clearly unhappy with what had happened to Jesus. Jesus sensing their unhappiness and lack of knowledge and understanding of the Scriptures, clearly brought out what the prophets said concerning Him.
25. He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
26. Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”Luke 24:25-26
Yes, Jesus throughout His lifetime on the earth, fulfilled all the things that were written about Him in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms. The Jews believed that the Messiah would come and deliver them from the oppression of Romans rather than the deliverance from the eternal death by virtue of their sins.
Second Coming of Jesus Christ
Finally brethren, our Lord Jesus who is at the right hand of God is interceding for us. He readily accepts all those who turn to Him and give their hearts. For Jesus is the only way to the Holy Kingdom. Therefore, let us be found in His righteousness and in the will of the Heavenly Father. For in the second coming, our Lord Jesus is going to come on the clouds with power and great glory; not like a Lamb, but as a Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Amen.
