Called to do good

God called you to do good.

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, warm welcome and greetings in the matchless name of Lord Jesus Christ!

The above verse (1 Peter 2:21) is part of the Apostle Peter’s letter to the church. In those verses, Peter called the people in their respective positions to submit to all human authority. They are urged to do so, for the sake of the Lord. Yes, submission to those people who are by authority or hierarchically above us is one way of showing obedience to God. Certainly, we should not only respect when they are kind and reasonable, but also when they are cruel to us. Moreover, as it is said in the above verse, God called us to do good, for them and for all. Yes, even when we are subjected to persecution or sufferings.

Do good to all people

Beloved, our Lord Jesus suffered for your sake and for the whole world. By doing so, He set us an example. Most importantly, He, being the Son of God, chose to go through all the sufferings and pain for our sake. For our goodness, He chose the path of pain. Likewise, our Lord wants us to do good and not be weary of doing that. Therefore brethren, when we have the opportunity, let us not cease to do good for all. Moreover, as the following verse says, do not step back if they are of the household of faith.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Galatians 6:10 NIV

Finally, let us not only be at the forefront doing all things good but also lead others to be rich in good works. Let everything be done for the glory of God in Jesus’ matchless name. Amen.
