Whoever Serves Me

Whoever serves me must follow me.

Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

Blessed be God, the Holy Father in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, here is a special verse from the Book of John. This was spoken by Lord Jesus himself in respect of those people who are willing to serve him. As the verse says, to serve the Lord means to follow him. It is nothing less than to imitate the Lord in all things. Those who are familiar with the kind of life our Lord Jesus lived, would agree that it is not a cakewalk. Though, He is the begotten Son of God, He chose to take birth in a humble family. He chose to be associated with the lowly. Above all, His unconditional love for all the people was evident by his deeds. He always moved with love and compassion at the site of the poor, sick, grief-stricken and downtrodden of the society.

Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!”

Mark 1:41 NLT

From the above it is clear that those who serve Him, shall put on the same heart to love and bear others. So, troubles and hindrances will always be there. But compared to what the Lord is going to give to his children, the troublesome earthly life is nothing. As the subject verse says, wherever our Lord has been, his servants will also will be. And He confirmed the same from the following verse:

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

John 14:3 NLT

The Heavenly Father Will Honor

Moreover brethren, it is very much how we are inwardly. It is not something how we look outwardly in serving the Lord. Do we have the same heart towards everyone? Are we compassionate towards others? Do we reason before showing our love towards people? Whatever it may be, it is very important to check ourselves. Considering all the above, let us serve the Lord in his way. As the subject verse says, the Heavenly Father honors the servants of the Lord. Therefore, let love, compassion, patience, perseverance, humility, obedience, gentleness be full in us.

In Jesus’ precious name stay blessed. Amen
