Put it into Practice

Put it into practice, whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me.

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name !

The subject verse from Paul’s epistle to Philippians calls for putting into practice all that we have learnt. Although the context speaks of what has been learned from the Apostle; it is ultimately the life of the Lord Jesus Christ which we should model our lives on. For the Apostle himself has learned from the Lord and lived accordingly. That is why he asks the people to put into practice all the things that they learned or received or heard or seen in him. As the Bible says in the following verses, we need to be an example to all believers in what we say, in the way we live, in our love, our faith and our purity.

‘Teach these things and insist that everyone learn them. Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them.’

1 Timothy 4:11-13

Jesus is our Model

Any training which has not been put into practice is worthless. Everything will be lost after due time. Just as we need to put into practice what we have learnt, the same holds good in our spiritual lives. The good things that we learnt about God and His Begotten Son, Jesus Christ needs to be applied in our lives. The Holy Spirit of God guides us to live our according to the will of the Holy Father and in the likeness of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let our circumstances be anything, let us put our faith, hope and trust in the Almighty God. Let the good news of the Lord comfort us in our sufferings. In that way we live a life in the likeness of the Apostle and the Lord Jesus Christ.

‘So you received the message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the severe suffering it brought you. In this way, you imitated both us and the Lord. As a result, you have become an example to all the believers in Greece—throughout both Macedonia and Achaia.’

1 Thessalonians 1:6-7

Therefore brethren, let our lives be an example to our fellow believers in Christ. In Jesus’ precious and matchless name, let us continue to put into practice what we have learnt. Amen.
