Merciful and Gracious
Merciful and gracious God.
But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, peace be upon you!
The Psalmist in this subject verse (Psalms 86:15) exalts the Almighty God for who He is. The true and living God, is full of abundant mercies and grace for His children. The love of our Creator towards the mankind is immeasurable and sans bounds. From the time immemorial, the humanity received His love and lived under His shade. Even though man rebelled against God, He was immensely merciful and gracious towards us. Moreover, He keeps His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him.
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
Deuteronomy 7:9
Throughout the Scriptures, we see that God was and continues to be slow to anger, but rich in love. Although we by our sinful nature became unworthy of His love, but He did not consider to abandon us to the eternal condemnation. Even more, He chose to send His only begotten Son, Lord Jesus Christ as the Sacrificial Lamb. God gave away His only Son to atone us from our own sins. Lord Jesus, out of compassion and immense love submitted to the will of the Heavenly Father.
The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.
Psalm 145:8
Therefore beloved, continually give thanks to the Almighty God and glorify His matchless name. Let our works be according to the will of the Heavenly Father and our bodies be present as a living sacrifice in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
