God Also Bound Himself

God also bound himself with an oath.

God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind.

All the glory, praises and honor be to the God Almighty in Jesus’ precious name !

The subject verse from the epistle to the Hebrews talks about an oath. The most important point about this oath is that it is God’s. The verse says that the Almighty God also bound himself with an oath. If we see the dictionary meaning of “oath” — it is a solemn promise, often invoking a divine witness, regarding one’s future action or behavior. From the above, it is something that we the mankind often does in our lives.

God’s promises shall come to pass

But here we see the Omnipotent God binding himself to an oath, even though there was no need for him to do. By doing so, God had showed us his mighty assurance to all those who received promise(s) from him. Yes, if it is the Almighty God who promises something to us, then it will come to pass. For unlike man, God would never change his mind on his promises. Coming to the context of the verse, it is the promise that God gave to Abraham. As the following verse says, through Abraham’s descendants all the nations shall be blessed.

In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

Genesis 22:18 NLT

The promise of salvation

Finally brethren, are we living a righteous and an obedient life just like Abraham? Are we among those who are blessed as stated in the above verse? If the answer is no, then dear the time is now to come down on our knees and repent. For the promise of salvation is through Jesus, the Son of God. Repent wholeheartedly and seek to be forgiven and washed in the blood of Jesus Christ. Give your heart and soul to the Redeemer. The precious blood that was shed on the Calvary cross pleads for the whole humanity. We can never allow sin to rule our lives and be condemned to the eternal damnation. Be washed in the precious blood of Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. Amen.
