Think of yourself

Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought.

… Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

Romans 12:3 NIV

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. Romans 12:3 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/rom.12.3.NIV

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, warm wishes and hearty greetings in Jesus’ precious name!

The subject verse (Romans 12:3) is something that we all need to ponder upon. The written word of God, very clearly instructs us to be obedient in our way of living. God has given us the free will. The will to live either in His righteousness or contrary to His divine plans. Our flesh never allows us to live a righteously surrendered life. For the flesh seeks those ephemeral worldly pleasures Moreover, it neither does any good to the body nor to the spirit. For the way of the body is mostly against the spirit by virtue of the sin that is present.

If one goes by the way of the body, then surely the spiritual values are choked. Pride and jealousy are more refined in our conduct. As the subject verse warns, we cannot be far from thinking about ourselves than what is required of. But brethren, let us be sensible in our thinking and judgement. With the faith that God has given to each one us, let us seek the strength of God to live in righteousness and humility. For by our own strength it is difficult to move ahead in life. And the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ is our source of strength.

But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.

Romans 8:10 NIV

As the above verse (Romans 8:10) says, If Christ is in us then the Spirit gives us life even though our body is subject to death. And the humility of Christ which is in us gives us the strength to be sober and clear about ourselves. Surely then, we reflect the image of Jesus when we fully surrender and depend upon Him. All the glory be to the Almighty God in Jesus’ matchless name. Amen.
