His Face Shine Upon You
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you;
All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name !
The subject verse from the Book of Numbers is part of the priestly blessings which the Almighty God commanded His ministers. Looking at the context from the verses (v.22-27) , it is clear that the Living God appointed the priests also to solemnly bless His children. Most importantly, the priests are to bless the people in the name of the Lord. And all the church goers experience this act of benediction at the conclusion of worship service.
Turn to the Lord to receive
Very importantly, there are three blessings that can be inferred from the above verses. The JFB commentary attributes the three blessings from the three persons of Godhead, yet one God. And the subject verse is supposedly from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Emphatically, it is about the very much needed grace of the Lord that the whole humanity requires. As the verse says, the Lord shall make His face shine upon us and be gracious to us. But in order to receive His shine and grace, we need to turn towards Him. Any person who is receiving shall fully turn to the giver to receive. And in the same way, one has to fully turn to the Lord to receive all His goodness and grace.
‘Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!’
Psalms 80:3 NKJV
As the Psalmist is seeking the Almighty God in the above verse, we shall also seek His shine. For the shine of the Lord is ever present for all of us. But for that we should turn towards Him and let His shine fall on us and be saved.
In Jesus mighty and matchless name ! Amen.
