I came that they may have life …
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name !
The subject verse clearly tells us why the Lord Jesus Christ came into this world. His divine purpose was not understood expect for few at that time. Neither the people nor the religious teachers took Him seriously. But Jesus was unlike those hypocritical religious leaders who are like thieves. They claim to be spiritual, but wreck havoc and destroy the lives of the people for their selfish gains. In the first place, Jesus the Good Shepherd came down to give us life abundant.
The Good Shepherd
Lord Jesus Christ is called the Good Shepherd. In the very next verse to the subject verse, Jesus said, “I am the good Shepherd”. Surely, He did not tell this just for the sake of telling. But He meant it from the depths of His heart. Just like a good shepherd who risks and lays down his life for his sheep; Jesus laid His life for us. Yes, the Son of God, came down to the earth He created just to lay down His life for the mankind. Moreover by His shed blood He made us right with the Almighty God. It is important to realize that the life that we are going to spend in eternity depends on our choice that we take now. Very importantly, if it is not Jesus then it is the devil that occupies every empty or lost soul.
Therefore brethren, whom do we have in us? Is it the Almighty God or the Satan? Furthermore, we have only two options and there is no in-between option. No man on his own strength fight the evil or dark forces of the spiritual realm. But those who are in Christ have access to His divine protection at all the times. Finally it is for everyone of us to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. For if we do then we shall have the said abundant life.
In Jesus’ matchless and mighty name all the glory be to the Living God. Amen.
