Stop Telling Lies
So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth.
So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body.
Praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus Christ’s precious name !
The subject verse is from Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians. The verse starts with the word “so”, indicating that there is something more to what is being said. From the previous verses, we are to be renewed in the spirit and to put on the new man created according to God. Which is to live in righteousness and holiness. If we are to live in righteousness and holiness of God, then surely we are to put away lying. As the following verse says, the lying lips are an abomination to the Lord. But sadly, man’s indulgence in falsehood is more than propagating what is truth.
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord , But those who deal truthfully are His delight.
Proverbs 12:22 NKJV
As the children of the Almighty God, we are to strictly move away from lying. For when we lie, we are not only lying to the people, but to the God who is living in us. Very importantly we grieve Lord the Holy Spirit with our lies. Moreover, lies are straight from the devil. Yes, it is the devil that propels everyone to lie. Surely, it is the satan who fills our hearts with every vile and viciousness. Initially It may seem no harm to twist words to suit our needs. But these twisting of words later on turn to brutal lies. As the following verse says, it is the satan who fills our hearts to lie to the Holy Spirit.
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
Acts 5:3 NKJV
Finally brethren, as the verse says, we are all the same parts of the body for which Lord Jesus is the head. Just like the right hand of the body cannot deceive the left hand, so also we shall be truthful to our neighbors who also belong to the same body of Christ. Therefore, let us live in the righteousness and holiness of God to be as one the body in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
