Slave to Sin
You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death or choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, warm wishes and greetings!
The above subject verse (Romans 6:16 NLT) sets before us the only options. The options to choose either life or death. The verse in a way asks us to be wary of wrong choices and their consequences. The Bible says that we should never let the sin take control of our lives. For if we surrender ourselves to sinful desires, then surely, sin will control the way we live. In the following below verse, Jesus clearly says that everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
John 8:34 NIV
God never forces himself upon us. He never dictates us to turn to Him. God loves us and awaits for our heart to be opened for Him. Though God makes Himself available for us, but our sins obscure our eyes to look at Him. Furthermore, if the presence of God diminishes from our lives, then surely righteousness too will give place for impurity and ungodliness.
Beloved brethren, the choice is ours. We can be slaves to the sin which leads to death, the eternal condemnation. Or we can choose to be obedient to the Almighty God and lead a righteous life in His sight. To be free from the slavery of sin, we need to wholeheartedly accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and live a righteous life according to the will of the Heavenly Father.
… Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.
Romans 6:19 NIV
Surely as the above verse says, we shall offer ourselves as slaves to righteousness in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
