Do To Others
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you.
“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.
All the glory, praises and honor to the Heavenly Father in Jesus’ precious name!
The subject verse from the Gospel according to Matthew is called as Jesus’s golden rule. And various forms of the rule exists today — both in positive and negative patterns. But what the Lord gave through this subject verse is most important to us. The most compelling part is doing to others rather than waiting for others to do. The phrase “doing whatever you would like” could only mean good. For everybody likes good things and nobody seeks what is bad from others.
From the verse it is clearly evident that we are to be the initiators of doing good. Moreover, it is significant to do good no matter who the recipient is. Definitely it is what the Lord wants. For the Bible questions — what credit it is if you do good to those who do good to you? As the following below verse says, even the sinners do the same. Is it not true? What benefit it is to us if we do good to good people? Did not our Lord gave himself as a sacrificial lamb to us who are sinners?
‘And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!’
Luke 6:33 NLT
The most important attribute that plays a vital role in doing good is love. A person who has excess of money or wealth may do good to others. But it may not be necessarily out of love. Those who love the God most, shall also love everybody like themselves. And this is what is taught by the Law and the Prophets. And when this love exists in us we shall do good eagerly and unconditionally. Furthermore, we shall do it without expecting anything in return from others, just as our Lord wants.
Do good and be blessed in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
