My presence will go with you

My presence will go with you…

And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Exodus 33:14 ESV

And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14 ESV https://bible.com/bible/59/exo.33.14.ESV

All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name !

The subject verse states God’s reassurance to go along with the people of Israel to the promised land. It is indeed reassurance of God’s presence as He declined earlier to go with them. As the Almighty God was displeased with stiff-necked attitude of the Israelites. The Living God chose not to go with them as He might completely destroy them on the way because of their haughty and stubborn attitude. The following verse states what is said above in the words of God.

Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up among you, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.”

Exodus 33:3 ESV

The Bible says that Moses interceded for the Israelites. He asked God to show His ways and to remember that the Israelites are His own people. In the context of the subject verse, it is clear that God promised to go with Moses. But Moses was persistent in seeking God’s presence with the whole congregation. And the Loving God was pleased with Moses and approved his request to go along with the people. In this way, Moses sought God’s reassurance, even though He refused to go earlier.

Seek God’s presence for all

From the above, we could see how Moses showed love and compassion for the people of Israelites. He did not selfishly seek God’s presence for himself, but pleaded God for the whole congregation. God’s mighty presence is all everyone would seek in their lives. Moreover, seeking His presence for all shows the love of Jesus in our lives. And Jesus’ second commandment asks us to love our neighbors like ourselves. And if we truly follow Jesus, we shall do what He commands us to do by seeking God’s presence in their lives also.

Therefore brethren, let the presence of God be with all of us and in all our works. In Jesus’ mighty and matchless name. Amen.
