Polished Arrow

God made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

‘He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver. ‘

Isaiah 49:2 NIV

All the glory, praises and honor be to the Heavenly Father in Jesus’ precious name!

The subject chapter starts with the words of the author regarding the commissioning of the Servant of God. The author proclaims the initiation of God’s calling, even before the birth of God’s chosen Servant. This chapter is considered to be Messianic, as it views Jesus as the referred Servant. Jesus, the Son of God was set apart for the great and mighty work of salvation even before the creation of humanity. The following verse says that God chose us in Christ to be holy and blameless before the foundation of the world.

just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

Ephesians 1:4 NKJV

Polished arrow to convict the sinners

The holy scriptures say that Jesus’ mouth was like a sharpened double-edged sword (Revelation 1:16). Indeed, His word is living, powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. He is to destroy the works of the Satan and bring His people to His safety. By His sacrifice on the Calvary Cross, He made us right in the sight of the Holy Father. As the subject verse says, He is a polished arrow. His sharp words convicts the sinners and bring them to repentance for a life eternal.

As the children of the Almighty God, we are to live in the image of our Lord and Savior. We too, are chosen for the works of the Living God. Surely, we are to submit ourselves for His mighty works. Then He shall polish us to be the sharp arrows for His work at the appointed time. Till then He shall conceal us in His quiver.

Therefore, let us continue to do every good thing for the glory of the Almighty God. Moreover, be eager to carryout the work of the Lord at His appointed time. In Jesus’ matchless name be blessed. Amen.
