Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, greetings in the mighty and matchless name of Lord Jesus Christ!

From the time immemorial to the time till now, a lamb is considered to be the most apt animal for sacrificial offering. The lamb symbolizes meekness, gentleness, innocence, purity, humility, etc. Most importantly in Christianity, the lamb represents Jesus Christ. The subject verse according to John 1:29, cries out to the world to look at Jesus Christ who is the Lamb of God and be saved through faith in Him.

Why as a Lamb?

But why did Jesus, the begotten Son of God came down as a Lamb? Why didn’t He come down like a King or a Ruler? The first and foremost is the obedience of Jesus Christ to do the will of the Heavenly Father. Man in his wickedness, sinned and rebelled against God. The Bible according to Psalm 103:8 says that the Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. God patiently waited for the man to return to Him. But man chose to remain in the filthiness of sin and ultimately became the subject of God’s wrath. The righteousness of God cannot withhold the punishment that the humanity earned for their sins. The word of God says that the wages of sin is death according to the verse below:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord“.

Romans 6:23

Jesus took away the sin of the world

Therefore the humanity only deserved eternal death.  And the God’s love for the mankind necessitated a way for their salvation. In order to deliver the mankind, God took upon Himself the whole sins of humanity. Yes, Jesus Christ who is God the Son is the priceless gift from God the Father. Jesus the one and only begotten Son of God, absolutely pure and sinless, came down as the sacrificial lamb, as a way of atonement for the whole humanity. Above all, Jesus fully surrendered His will to God the Father and chose the path of crucifixion at Calvary for our deliverance.

The Scriptures were fulfilled when Jesus was led to Calvary like a lamb to the slaughter house and He never opened His mouth against all those who were mocking and putting Him to death. Yes the Bible according to Isaiah 53:7 says:

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.

Isaiah 53:7

Jesus endured all the pain and torture of crucifixion for you, me and for the whole humanity. Especially by His death on the cross, Jesus conquered the death for us. Jesus Christ is the only way for eternal life for whole humanity. It is important to realize that no one can reach the Heavenly Kingdom without God the Son, Jesus Christ. Therefore brethren, repent and turn to God fully and ultimately claim the victory that Lord Jesus gave unto us through the cross. Amen.
