The Spirit of truth will guide you.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, warm wishes and greetings in the precious name of Lord Jesus.
The subject verse (John 16:13) talks about Lord the Holy Spirit. Our Lord Jesus himself introduces us to Holy Spirit as the Spirit of truth. Even more Lord the Holy Spirit is referred by many names – the Comforter, the Advocate. The Holy Spirit leads us all to the truth, therefore He is the Spirit of truth. Certainly, everybody including you and I have heard Him talking truth in our everyday lives. Many a times He would have stopped us from taking wrong decisions or doing bad things.
More than guiding us in the worldly ways, He guides us to the eternal truth. The truth is none other than our Lord Jesus Christ. Very importantly, the Holy Spirit testifies about Jesus Christ as the following verse says:
When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit oftruth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.John 15:26 (NIV)
From the above, it is clear that Lord the Holy Spirit will not speak on His own authority. But whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
