All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.
But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.”
All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name !
The subject verse from Paul’s second epistle to Timothy, brings before us the firm foundation of God’s truth. There are many in this world who have turned people away from their faith by false teachings. But the truth of God stands firm like a foundation stone. The Apostle Paul refers the foundation to be the church. As the following verse says, the church of the Living God is the pillar and foundation of the truth.
‘so that if I am delayed, you will know how people must conduct themselves in the household of God. This is the church of the living God, which is the pillar and foundation of the truth.’1 Timothy 3:15 NLT
The righteous vessels
Very importantly, this foundation which is the church is made up of those who the Lord knows. These people earnestly serve the Lord in their respective roles or positions. They persist and persevere in the will of the Almighty God till the end. And truly they submit to the Lord as His righteous vessels. For the scriptures says that not every vessel in the house is for honor, for there are some which does not bring any honor. Nevertheless, these righteous vessels of God always bring honor to the Living God.
In addition to what has been said above, we are to turn away from doing evil. By all means, we shall live in His truth and righteousness at all the times. Very importantly, not succumbing to the palpable evil present in this world. As the good sheep of our Lord Jesus Christ we shall listen to His voice. For the Bible says, that His sheep shall listen to His voice.
Jesus is the ultimate foundation
Brethren, let us be wary of the deceivers that are prevalent everywhere. And listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit of God who is present in person in all of us. Although the subject verse refers to the church as the foundation, but the foundation for very church is Jesus Christ. Any church that is not based on Christ is of the adversary. As the following verse says, our ultimate foundation is Lord Jesus Christ.
‘For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.’1 Corinthians 3:11 NLT
Therefore brethren, let us fully submit to the Living God and abide in His truth and righteousness. Always bring glory to the Almighty God in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
