God and Money

You cannot serve both God and money.

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Blessed brothers and sisters in Christ, warm wishes and greetings!

Yes, money is essential for all of us. But money alone is not everything. The way we look at the money and value it, tells us who we are. It is not surprising when we say, that money is the most sought after thing. We the children of God, has an important question to answer and be clear of our position. Certainly, from the above subject verse (Matthew 6:24), it is clear that we cannot serve both God and money. So whom do we serve – God or money?

The omnipotent God owns everything in creation. He gives to all according to His will. Even the riches and material possessions come from Him. As the below verse says, it is the gift of God.

Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.

Ecclesiastes 5:19 NIV

Most importantly, many question God for their state of being or lack of riches. Who is man to question God for lack of wealth or abundance of it? What good will it bring if the riches are wasted? What good it is, if it were not from God but from the satan? Yes, these are only few questions that we should at least ask for ourselves. An important lesson for us from God is that we should always be happy for it is according to His plan. There is no need for us to worry about our future, but rely upon the Living God who sustains us according to His riches of grace and mercy. The below verse makes it clear for us :

When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.

Ecclesiastes 7:14 NIV

Therefore beloved. let us not try to serve two masters. Our Lord Jesus Christ is our only Master. For us, money should be something that we need to use in the right way and also be accountable. Moreover, we should always and at all times glorify God in the name of Lord Jesus Christ for whatever we have. Amen.
