Give Justice
Give justice to the weak and the fatherless.
Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name!
The subject verse from the Book of Psalms asks us to defend the weak and the fatherless. Defending the poor does not mean to defend their wrong doings in the sight of God. Neither does it mean to give judgement in their favor even in their wrong doings. But it is to defend them owing to their oppression or inability in representing themselves. The weak and the fatherless cannot fight their oppressors. And it is necessary for the children of the Almighty God to come their aid and rescue them. Especially, if one is in a position of authority to judge, then we should not subvert justice due to them.
“You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless, or take a widow’s garment in pledge,
Deuteronomy 24:17 ESV
As the subject verse says, we are to uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. Yes, we are to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed so that people may oppress them no more. The Bible says that those who considers the poor in their works and in their deeds are blessed. Moreover, the Almighty God shall deliver them in their times of trouble.
Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble.
Psalms 41:1 NLT
Therefore, let us do everything to uphold the rights of the weak and the fatherless. And bring glory to the Almighty God who himself is keeping us safe and protected. In Jesus’ matchless and mighty name. Amen.
