Gracious and merciful
The Lord your God is gracious and merciful.
The Lord your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away his face from you.
Greetings and warm wishes in the mighty and matchless name of Lord Jesus Christ!
In our daily lives, I believe most of us might have gone through situations where in we were at fault and at mercy of others, above all at mercy of God. We definitely would like people to leave us without any questions asked and pray that we be forgiven. But what do we do when we are at the receiving end? Do we act in the same way? Do we show mercy on others?
The Bible says that the Lord is merciful and gracious. He is slow to anger and abounding in mercy (Psalms 103:8). Even our Lord Jesus clearly said, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy (Matthew 5:7)”. When we act in kind and show mercy upon others, we are blessed by the living God. We bring glory to His name when we show mercy and love. Think about Lord Jesus, who out of his infinite riches of love, came down and lived in our midst as lowly as possible. Jesus endured the pain of cross when we were still sinners. He alone, the most holy and righteous, could cleanse us from our own sins. For no other sacrifice in the world can redeem us. He showed to the world what a friend we have in Him.
Dear brethren, let us fully renew our hearts and be in the way as our Lord wants us to be. Finally, be merciful, just as our Lord also is merciful (Luke 6:36). Amen.
