The Floodgates of Heaven

Let the whole tithe be brought into the storehouse of God. See the floodgates of heaven be opened and so much blessing be poured out.

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it”.

Malachi 3:10 NIV.

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Malachi 3:10 NIV

Blessed brothers and sisters in Christ, a very happy welcome and warm greetings!

First things first, I am not going to recommend or ask anybody to give any percent of your income. Rather it up to your understanding and benevolence. The word tithe connotes mixed feelings and reactions. Although everyone seems well understood, but when asked there would be exhaustive and different answers. Some even question whether tithing is applicable today. Certainly the context of the above verse (Malachi 3:10) concerns the Israelites of Old Testament times. Some may take it to heart while others may argue that it may not be valid today. Whatever be the reason, but one thing is sure that we are blessed when we give to God.

Generous Giver.

First and foremost, we can never add to or remove from the abundant riches of God. Do you think God is after your money or tithes? God does not accept or depend upon any closefisted or stingy people, but it is those generous givers whom He uses for His many plans. Those who love God and submit to His will bring the whole tithe, not a part of the tithe. According to the New Testament, Jesus never compelled anybody, but rather blessed the generous givers.

Ultimately, it is the generous people who are blessed abundantly according to the above verse. Truly, the floodgates of heaven are opened for them. The Scriptures makes it clear from the following verse 2 Corinthians 9:7

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Look at the another verse according to Luke 6:38:

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Therefore brethren, let your tithing or charity be generous and be acceptable to God. Remember, that it is we who are dependent on God, not the other way round. Rather it is a privilege for us to be used in His service. God surely blesses whatever little or more that we possess. As the subject verse says, Test Him in this in Jesus name. Amen.
