All the glory, praises and honor be to the Heavenly Father in Jesus’ precious name !

The subject verse from the Book of James do call us to reflect upon the lives we are living. Have we really understood God’s ways ? Are we wise enough and live an honorable life ? If we really come to the terms, we shall ultimately seek to live an honorable life for the glory of the Living God. As it is clear from the subject verse, we need to do good works with the humility that comes from the wisdom of God.

Our talk, work and character

Certainly the honorable life that is mentioned in the verse shall be visible to all. But it is not of pride, instead it is of humility. Moreover, their talk shall be graceful to all, healing to the afflicted, words of wisdom for troubled and above all they glorify the Living God. Truly, the way a person talks reflects what is inside his heart. For the Bible says that we speak-out what we have inside of our hearts. And the following verse confirms the same.

Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Matthew 12:34 NKJV

The wisdom that we receive from above shall be seen not only in our talks, but also in our works. Our talks match our actions in every way. Undoubtedly the good works are done for the glory of our Holy Father in our Lord’s name. Although it is selfless work, if there is any selfishness or pride, then it is in the Lord our God.

And when I come to you again, you will have even more reason to take pride in Christ Jesus because of what he is doing through me.

Philippians 1:26 NLT

Above all, the true wisdom shows the quality of our character. When the substance of our lives is full of love, compassion, patience, perseverance, gentleness, kindness, meekness, humility and obedience, then it surely places us near to our Lord Jesus Christ. Furthermore, our obedience to the God Almighty shall top our priorities in life.

Finally…

Brethren, from all the above ways or works, we shall surely live an honorable life. Our aim shall be to live a life which glorifies the Lord who brought us into this world. And I believe that our Lord Jesus lived all these throughout His life. By no means, what I have said so far are the only things that we need to do. But the way is the way of the Lord. He had already shown us how to live in this world. And now it is time for us to honor the Lord our God, by living a life akin to Him. For in living such a life we have a gift that lasts forever. In Jesus’ precious and matchless name let us live an honorable life. Amen.
