You Will Not Abandon

You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead.

because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.

Psalms 16:10 NIV

All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name!

Through this subject verse, the Psalmist king David brings before us his confidence in the Almighty God. Surely as David says, the Living God would not leave the souls of his faithful ones in Sheol. Moreover, he understood that God would not allow the souls to decay in that realm of the dead. However, the resurrection from the dead is evident from the subject verse.

for your love for me is very great. You have rescued me from the depths of death.

Psalms 86:13 NLT

The above verse from the Book of Psalm tells that God rescued the Psalmist from the depths of death. Most importantly, it is out of God’s great love. The Bible is clear about God rescuing king David from death many times. But there is no mention of his resurrection akin to Jesus’. Some commentators say that the reference is made to Jesus in the subject verse. Certainly, we know How the Almighty God resurrected Jesus from the dead on the third day. And another person who believed like David in the resurrection power of the Almighty God is Abraham. For the scripture (Hebrews 11:9) say that he believed God would resurrect Isaac even after his sacrifice.

Brethren, let us believe the Lord who can raise us from the dead. Our walk and talk should always glorify His name as the king David did. For we believe that king David is not condemned to hell, but raised to be with the Almighty God in His Holy Kingdom.

Therefore, let our trust and faith in the Living God who shall raise us from the eternal death. In Jesus’ mighty and matchless name be saved. Amen.
