Rest on every side

To truly find the rest on every side, we need to seek the Lord our God first.

… we have sought the Lord our God; we sought him and he has given us rest on every side.

2 Chronicles 14:7

“Let us build up these towns,” he said to Judah, “and put walls around them, with towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, because we have sought the Lord our God; we sought him and he has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered. 2 Chronicles 14:7 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/2ch.14.7.NIV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, peace be upon you!

Welcome to one more beautiful verse from the written word of God. The context of the above verse (2 Chronicles 14:7) talks about Asa, the King of Judah. Asa did what is right and good in the sight of God. Not only, he commanded his countrymen to seek the Lord, but also to obey the laws and commands of the Almighty. Therefore, the land was at peace and no one was at war with Judah. And in the above verse, the King gives the testimony of the Lord’s grace. The grace of complete rest on every side. Truly, the Lord’s rest gives the true peace to one and all. Most importantly there are so many things that we can take and apply from the above verse.

Throughout the Bible, the Lord our God has showed us the ways to find the rest. One more verse from Jeremiah 6:16 clearly talks about the way we need to walk.

This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

Jeremiah 6:16

Surely, the above verse clearly says how to go about seeking rest for our souls. Certainly, we need to ask where the right and good way is and walk in it. Therefore beloved, let us not trust our own intellect. But in all ways, submit to our Lord Jesus and seek His divine counsel and guidance to go the right way. For in Jesus’ matchless name alone we have the ultimate peace and rest. Amen.
