Love and Obedience
When we walk in obedience to His commands we reflect the love.
And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
Blessed brothers and sisters in Christ, warm wishes and hearty greetings in Jesus’ precious name.
The subject verse (2 John 1:6) talks about a love that is completely different to what we generally show. It is the love out of reverence to God. Being obedient to the Living God, reflects our love for Him. It is not just an emotion that we show, but the righteous actions on our part for the glory of the living God.
Jesus himself showed us the way. His love is not subject to any terms and conditions. He freely showered His love upon us. Even though we were thick in our own sins and transgressions, He still loved us. For God is love, He loves us unconditionally. He hates sin, but not us, for we are His own creation. Love is something that God wants us to be filled with. He certainly, wants us to be like Him in loving others. Remember, love is not an option for us. Rather it is His command for us. He commands us to love our neighbors like ourselves. The following verses are what Jesus commanded us to live with:
30. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
31. The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:30-31
From the beginning, the Lord our God showed us His divine and pristine love. And He wanted the same in us also, i.e., we walk in love. Therefore, let us walk in love and be obedient to God in not only in our emotions, but also in our actions. In Jesus’ matchless and mighty name be everything done. Amen.
