Bear the name of Christ

If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ …

If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you.

All the glory, praises and honor be to the Holy Father in Jesus’ precious name !

The subject verse from the first epistle of Peter shows us what we receive in bearing the name of Christ. From the context, it is clear that the author assumes us to be Christians. Moreover, the trials that we might be going through as a Christian should not at all surprise us. Instead, we should be glad that we are partners with Christ in His suffering. As the following verse says, we shall not be ashamed of the sufferings for Christ but shall glorify the Almighty God on account of this.

‘Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.’

I Peter 4:16 NKJV

Spirit of God shall rest upon us

By partaking in suffering we will have the wonderful joy of seeing His glory when it is revealed to all the world. Most importantly, the insults that we receive for bearing the name of Christ shall make us blessed in the Lord. Even more, the Scripture affirms that the glorious Spirit of God shall rest upon us. Isn’t it wonderful to have the Spirit of God resting upon us? And when the Spirit of God is over us, we shall not fear any trials and tribulations that may come.

‘But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” ‘

I Peter 3:14 NKJV

Therefore brethren, let us not suffer by doing evil but be ever willing for Christ’s sake. Yes, to suffer for Jesus’ precious name is an opportunity for every child of God to partake in His sufferings. Furthermore, let us give glory to the Living God for enabling us to partake in it. Finally be blessed for the Spirit of God shall rest over us all throughout of our lives.

In Jesus’ mighty and matchless name give all the glory to the Holy Father. Amen.
